"We'll find a way, I promise" Kali told Ginger. "We've got to get out of here" Ginger sighed, longing for freedom. "I wish I had an answer for that" Kali calmly said while she stroked Ginger's feathers. "Why do such terrible things have to happen?" Ginger continued to shed a couple of tears. "You okay?" Kali asked as she came over to the sad hen. Kali noticed Ginger on the chicken coop roof shedding a few tears, then noticing a flock of birds flying by beyond the horizon. All the other chickens then walked away sadly for the loss of their friend. Kali and the other chickens held their breaths and turned away, the last thing they heard was a loud thud. She took Edwina into the slaughterhouse as she picked up an ax. Kali watched herself, over by the corner of the fence as Mr Tweedy handed Edwina over to Mrs Tweedy. Kali wanted to save Edwina, but Mrs Tweedy threatened she'd lock the girl outside for the night if she interfered.Īfter roll call was dismissed, Kali noticed Ginger had climbed up to the top of one of the coops to watch what would happen next.
"Oh, is Edwina off on holiday?" Babs asked. Mr Tweedy then grabbed Edwina by the neck and took her away as the chickens looked on helplessly. "I would have, she didn't tell me, she didn't tell anyone" Bunty replied in agony. "Bunty, why didn't you give her some of yours?" Ginger asked. Mrs Tweedy kept checking the list until she came up to a chicken that hadn't layed any eggs for the whole week. Fowler shushed the others as the Tweedys came back. "Yes, after Paxo left" Bunty mentioned a former champion egg-layer. "Wow I guess they call you the egg-laying champion around here" Kali said to the red hen. "I've layed five eggs this morning" Bunty reported. "How's the egg count?" Ginger whispered to Bunty.
Mr Tweedy then handed over the egg production list to Mrs Tweedy and she started heading back down the line checking the egg count on the chickens. "So, you don't eat chickens?" Ginger curiously asked Kali while whispering. Nobby buried his head in Ginger's shoulder, scared. She then stretched out her glove and released it suddenly making a snapping sound, which made all the chickens gulp.
CHICKEN RUN EDWINA MAC
Kali then saw Ginger hand a piece of paper over to Mac just before Mrs Tweedy looked over to them. "Do you have a new plan?" Mac soon whispered to Ginger. "Yes" Kali replied, with her eyes looking down.
"Are they all here?" Mrs Tweedy asked Kali, as she came over. Nobby was starting to shake in nervousness but Ginger held his wing, protecting him now that the Tweedys were walking down the row of chickens. The chickens stood as stiff as soldiers as the Tweedys entered the pen. He's probably grounding me or Bunty" Ginger told her little brother. "No, no Nobby, Fowler's not grounding you. "What did I do!" Nobby asked all anxiously. "There will be a stern reprimand for you lad, you're grounded" Fowler said. "Oh right, right" Fowler quickly got back in line as the Tweedys approached the gate. "Fowler they're coming, get back in line!" Ginger added, warning the elderly rooster. "Everyone be quiet, here they come!" Kali quickly informed the chickens. "Ginger, they're coming!" Nobby told his sister, getting scared. Kali, Ginger, and Nobby then looked over to the house to see the Tweedys coming outside. "Oh, how dare you talk back to a senior ranking officer" Fowler huffed. "Give over you old fool, they just want to count us!" Bunty said to the old rooster, rather annoyed. Just then Fowler started to prattle about his days in the air force, until Bunty rudely interrupted. "Sorry Ginger" Nobby said, a bit embarrassed. Ginger then cleared her throat and looked serious at her little brother. It's annoying enough to bore anyone to sleep". "He keeps rambling on about his days in the RAF. "He's a bit arrogant, don't worry about him" Ginger told Kali. "Oh, yes, right, I taught her everything she knows" Fowler replied, as he continued on examining the other chickens, not really interested in the human girl.
